DOI Announces $195 Million in Funding Opportunities for Drought and Climate Resiliency Projects

On August 7, 2023, DOI announced up to $195 million in funding opportunities available through BIL’s WaterSMART Program, the IRA, and annual appropriations to develop a more resilient water supply, support cooperative watershed management and safeguard aquatic ecosystems. The Bureau of Reclamation is opening three funding opportunities for drought resilience, planning and design, and cooperative watershed management and extending an opportunity for aquatic ecosystem projects. IRA section 50233 provides DOI $4 billion to provide grants and other funding for drought mitigation, water conservation, and habitat restoration.
