On September 14, 2022, DOI’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced that it reinstated oil and gas Lease Sale 257 and is accepting 307 of the highest valid bids. BOEM initially published a record of decision on Lease Sale 257 on January 21, 2021 but later rescinded that decision on February 18, 2021. IRA section 50264 required that BOEM accept the highest valid bid for Lease Sale 257.
