On October 24, 2023, EPA announced nearly $128 million to fund 186 projects across the country advancing environmental justice. 98 projects belong to the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem Solving (EJCPS) Program, which provides financial assistance to eligible organizations working to address local environmental and/or public health issues in communities. 88 selections are part of the Environmental Justice Government-to-Government (EJG2G) Program, which supports government activities in partnership with community-based organizations that address environmental injustices. IRA section 60201 added section 138 to the Clean Air Act and appropriated $2.8 billion to EPA for the award of Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grants to community-based nonprofits as well as partnerships between nonprofits and Native American tribes, local governments, and institutions of higher education.
