EPA Announces $53 Million in Funding for Community Air Pollution Monitoring Projects

Date: 11/03/2022
Type: Implementation of IRA

On November 3, 2022, EPA announced that it selected 132 air monitoring projects to receive a total of $53.4 million to improve air quality monitoring in communities across 37 states. The projects focus specifically on communities that have been historically overburdened by air pollution. Grants will range from $57,000 to $500,000. More than half of the grants will go to community and nonprofit organizations, and twelve percent of the funding will go towards tribal communities.

The awards are made with funding from the American Rescue Plan and IRA section 60105, which appropriated funding for air pollution monitoring and control activities.
