Type: Implementation of IRA
On September 29, 2023, NOAA announced $100 million in IRA funding to support the US Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) Regional Associations’ climate resilience work. The funding will be available to 11 U.S. IOOS Regional Associations for investments that enable modernization of infrastructure and the continued provision of services that address climate resilience needs and priorities. The IOOS Regional Associations provide observations for the U.S. coastal zone through relationships with communities, businesses, academia, and other external partners. The regional associations operate and maintain infrastructure to collect and share the data coastal communities need to improve local and regional resilience.
