On February 21, 2024, USDA announced $772.6 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act in investments to provide high-speed internet access, clean, safe water, and other support for rural families, agricultural producers, and small businesses. IRA funds (USDA does not specify an exact amount) will contribute to supporting 32 projects in underserved communities participating in the Rural Partners Network, expanding access to jobs, business opportunities, quality health care, clean water and renewable energy.
Funding for the aforementioned Rural Partners projects comes from IRA section 22007, amending section 1006 of the American Rescue Plan of 2021 by appropriating $250 million in grants and loans for underserved farmers, amongst other grant programs within the provision. Funds are available until September 30, 2031.
