Type: Implementation of IRA
On December 22, 2023, USDA announced it is using IRA funding to hire 40 Climate Change Fellows to expedite the processing of clean energy funding applications under the Rural Energy for America Project (REAP). These positions are part of the USDA Climate Change Fellows Program, which hires new staff to ensure the success of USDA’s activities to address climate change. Applicants can apply for a position in one of 29 states here and for a position in Puerto Rico here. IRA section 22005 appropriates $100 million to USDA for administrative costs, salaries, and expenses relating to the Rural Development mission area.
