Type: Implementation of IRA
On September 24, 2024, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced that it will invest approximately $1.4 million of IRA funding in ecosystem monitoring activities—including “gathering data from large, interconnected upland, riparian, and wetland habitats across Alaska”—to better understand Alaska’s ecosystem resilience. BLM will use its Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring framework to gather this data.
IRA sections 50221 and 50222 designate funding for projects on national park and BLM-managed land.
