On June 21, DOE and EPA announced the opening of applications for $850 million in funding for projects to monitor, measure, and reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. The funding is available through the Methane Emissions Reduction Program, established by IRA section 60113, which appropriated $1.55 billion for methane monitoring and mitigation projects as well as technical assistance. Eligible project proposals will reduce small operators’ methane emissions, repair methane leaks, improve community access to data and monitoring, and create partnerships to enhance the regional measurement of methane emissions.
August 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET is the submission deadline for full applications.
