Type: Implementation of IRA
On September 17, 2024, DOE announced the opening of Rhode Island’s federal Home Energy Rebates program, funded by IRA sections 50121 and 50122 to provide consumer rebates. Rhode Island is the fifth state to launch the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) portion of the rebate program. HEAR helps low and middle-income households save on energy efficiency improvements, including heat pumps, electrical panels, and insulation. DOE requires that at least half of the Home Energy Rebate program rebates go to low-income households.
