On January 13, 2025, DOE’s Grid Deployment Office (GDO) announced recipients of federal funding through both IRA and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) for grid integration, hydroelectric efficiency and grid resilience projects. Grant categories include the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program, Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grants, Hydroelectric Efficiency Improvement Incentives, Standardization for Interregional Offshore Wind Transmission and Transmission Facilitation Program.
These grants are funded in part by IRA section 50151, which appropriated $2 billion to FERC within DOE to establish loan programs for the “construction or modification of certain electric transmission infrastructure.”
