On February 21, 2025, RER Solutions, a firm contracted by DOE to administer programs in the DOE’s Loan Program Office, placed 20 workers on unpaid leave following DOE’s “stop work order.” Despite frequent reliance on contractors, DOE appears poised to significantly reduce LPO staff and revamp the agency’s contracting process.
Many DOE contracts are funded by IRA Title VI.
