Type: Implementation of IRA
On August 19, 2024, DOE published a request for information (RFI) on the planning and development of electric transmission facilities to serve offshore wind power generating stations on the West Coast. This RFI relates to section 50153 of the IRA, which appropriates $100 million to DOE for interregional and offshore wind electricity transmission planning, modeling, and analysis.
The RFI will be open for submissions until October 3, 2024. DOE invites responses from the public and specifically seeks input from “recreational and commercial ocean users, offshore wind or maritime industries, [and] government entities (Tribal, Federal, State, county, or local government agencies).”
