Date: 03/04/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On March 4, 2024, DOI’s National Park Service announced an award of $1.9 million to Glacier National Park. The funding will support a variety of activities related to ecosystem restoration and climate resilience. For example, Glacier National Park will continue to “support the Blackfeet-led vision to establish a free-ranging bison herd in northwest Montana.” Glacier will also undertake “a multi-park project to inventory cultural resources in the Intermountain West high-elevation areas impacted by climate change.”

This funding comes from IRA section 50222, which appropriated funding to the National Park Service for public lands conservation and ecosystem restoration.
