DOI Announces $11 Million in Funding for Drought Resilience

On April 23, 2024, DOI announced that it has awarded 34 grants across 11 states and Guam totaling $11.1 million through the Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART Program. The grants will “support collaborative planning and design projects that improve water sustainability and efficiency” and combat long-term drought impacts.

The WaterSMART Program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and IRA section 50233, which appropriated funds to DOI to fund drought mitigation activities.
