DOI Announces $258,000 to Protect Native Species in Grand Canyon National Park

On September 8, 2023, DOI announced $258,000 in IRA funds will be dedicated to the removal of invasive species and the protection of native fish species in the Colorado River. This project is part of $52 million in IRA and BIL funds allocated to the National Park Service to fund projects related to ecosystem resilience, restoration, and environmental planning needs around the country. Section 50222 of the IRA appropriates funds to DOI for conservation, ecosystem, and habitat restoration projects and section 50221 of the IRA appropriates funds to DOI for projects for the conservation, protection, and resiliency of lands and resources.
