DOI Announces $700 Million for Drought Resilience in the Lower Colorado River Basin

On June 6, 2024, DOI announced $700 million to fund water conservation projects to enhance the long-term drought and climate resilience of the Lower Colorado River Basin. Projects will include water distribution structures, advanced metering infrastructure, farm efficiency improvements, canal lining, turf removal, groundwater banking, desalination, recycling water, and water purification. The funding is for IRA-established Lower Colorado Basin System Conservation and Efficiency Program projects. The funding will be utilized by projects located in Arizona, Nevada, and Southern California.
