DOI Announces $71 Million for Electrification of Homes in Tribal Communities

On May 1, 2024, DOI announced $71 million in available funding for electrification of homes in Tribal communities. This is the second round of IRA funding from the Office of Indian Affairs Tribal Electrification Program. Applications for this funding may be submitted until June 30, 2024. Section 80003 of the IRA appropriates $145.5 million to the Director of the BIA to advance the use of zero-emissions energy systems in Tribal homes, as well as an additional $4.5 million for administrative costs associated with the program.
