On November 13, 2024, DOI announced a grant opportunity through the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to support aquatic resource management activities in Alaska. The grants will be used to address a variety of issues “includ[ing] restoration, habitat fragmentation and degradation, drought resiliency, water availability, and aquatic invasive species.” Awards will range from $5,000 to $100,000. All applications are due by March 17, 2025 at 5pm EST.
The grants are funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act; IRA sections 50221 and 50222, which appropriated money to DOI to support conservation, restoration, and resilience activities on public lands managed by the BLM; and IRA section 50303, which appropriated money to DOI to develop effective environmental reviews.
