On December 4, 2024, DOI’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) posted a $8,000,000 funding opportunity in Oregon/Washington through BLM’s Fuels Management and Community Fire Assistance Program. The funding will be used to support a range of “activities to reduce the risk and impact of catastrophic wildfires to local communities through coordination, reducing the amount of hazardous fuels, and furthering the education of landowners about wildfire prevention and mitigation.” Individual awards will be between $30,000 and $900,000. Applications will be reviewed in two rounds with the following deadlines: February 2, 2025 (round 1) and March 5, 2025 (round 2). Additional application information can be found here.
The awards will be made with BLM’s fiscal year 2025 funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act. IRA sections 50121 and 50122 appropriated funding for DOI to support conservation, resilience, and ecosystem restoration projects.
