On December 20, 2024, DOI’s Bureau of Reclamation posted a $9 million funding opportunity for emergency drought relief for Tribes. The program, which is administered by Reclamation’s Native American Affairs and International Affairs Office (NAIAO), supports activities to “provide near-term drought relief actions that mitigate drought impacts for Tribes who are impacted by the operation of a Reclamation water project.” Individual awards will be between $50,000 and $2 million. This opportunity is funded by IRA section 80004, which appropriated funding to the Bureau of Reclamation to provide near-term drought relief to Indian Tribes that are impacted by the operation of a Bureau of Reclamation water project.
