DOI Announces Funding Opportunity for Sacramento River Valley with February 2025 Deadline

Date: 10/17/2024
Deadline: 02/11/2025
Type: Implementation of IRA

On October 17, 2024, DOI’s Bureau of Reclamation announced a funding opportunity for an available $25 million to support fish habitat and facility improvements in the Sacramento River Valley. The investment will help to restore salmon and trout habitats which have been reduced and changed by various development and other actions in the Sacramento River Valley. This grant opportunity will complement ongoing efforts to address water conservation and drought resilience in the Sacramento area.

The application deadline is February 11, 2025 at 5pm (PST). Applicants for funding “must demonstrate an effort to mitigate impacts of drought in the Sacramento Valley while providing measurable benefits to the fish habitat like creating new side channels for improved reproduction habitat or creating passage to and from disconnected habitats.” Additional information can be found at the grant posting here.

This grant is funded by IRA section 50233, which appropriates money to support a range of drought mitigation efforts including habitat restoration projects.
