Type: Implementation of IRA
On September 19, 2023, DOI announced it will use IRA section 80001 funding to expand the Indian Youth Service Corps (IYSC) and other programs to aid in developing the next generation of climate stewards. During the Clinton Global Initiative 2023 annual meeting, Secretary Haaland announced a $15 million commitment to the IYSC. IRA funding will allow the Corps to expand the capacity of projects serving underserved communities by 30%. The first IYSC awards were announced on September 11, 2023.
