DOI Announces Over $55 Million to Strengthen Western Drought Resilience

On August 29, 2024, DOI announced the availability of over $55 million to strengthen drought resilience in Western communities. Projects include developing new infrastructure, upgrading existing infrastructure, recharging aquifers, advancing water recycling and treatment, strengthening innovative technologies to address water scarcity challenges for water users, and constructing domestic water supply projects that benefit Tribes and disadvantaged communities. IRA section 50233 provides $4 billion for water management and conservation efforts in the Colorado River Basin and other drought-plagued areas. DOI will be accepting grant applications until October 7, 2024.
