On November 21, 2024, DOI’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) posted a $100,000 funding opportunity in Alaska through BLM’s Alaska Invasive and Noxious Plant Management Programs. The program seeks to “prevent, detect, inventory, control, and monitor weed populations on public lands,” which threaten native plant communities. Individual awards will be between $5,000 and $100,000. Applications will be reviewed in three rounds with the following deadlines: January 21, 2025 (round 1), February 21, 2025 (round 2), and March 17, 2025 (round 3). The awards will be made with BLM’s fiscal year 2025 funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act. IRA section 50122 appropriated funds for DOI to support conservation and ecosystem restoration projects.
