On November 21, 2024, DOI’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) posted two funding opportunities in Idaho for conservation work on Idaho public lands. The first will provide $75,000 in funding through BLM’s Plant Conservation and Restoration Program. The program supports DOI’s initiatives related to climate change resilience. The Idaho BLM office “is focused on meeting the priorities of the National Seed Strategy” through this award. Individual awards will be between $10,000 and $40,000. Additional application information can be found here. The second is a $350,000 funding opportunity in Idaho through a collaboration between Idaho’s BLM office and the Qualified Youth and Conservation Corps. BLM’s youth program helps to train the “next generation of public lands stewards.” The funding will support a variety of projects, including habitat restoration and wildlife protection, development and implementation of natural and cultural resource stewardship plans, and more. Individual awards will be between $50,000 and $250,000. Additional application information can be found here.
Applications for both programs are due by February 3, 2025 at 5:00 pm EST. The awards will be made with BLM’s fiscal year 2025 funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act. IRA sections 50121 and 50122 appropriated money for DOI to support conservation, resilience, and ecosystem restoration projects.
