DOT Awards $1.2 Billion in Grants to Help State Departments of Transportation Utilize Cleaner Construction Materials

Date: 11/14/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On November 14, 2024, DOT announced that it had awarded $1.2 billion to 39 State Departments of Transportation under the Low Carbon Transportation Materials Discretionary Grant Program. This award will support continued growth in clean manufacturing and creating jobs while reducing pollution from the production of concrete, steel, and other bedrock materials. This will provide States, Tribes, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and other agencies with the incentives to purchase low carbon construction materials and products for use in transportation projects. This opportunity is funded by IRA section 60506 and supports the use of low-carbon materials on Federal-aid construction projects.
