On September 11, 2024, EPA announced that it awarded a Community Change Grant of $17 million to MetroHealth Systems, which will partner with seven community organizations in Cleveland. The grant is for reducing indoor air pollution, especially for Cleveland-area residents with asthma. For example, the grant will fund initiatives to swap gas ranges with electric ranges, improve kitchen ventilation, and more.
EPA’s Community Change Grants are funded by IRA section 60201, which appropriated nearly $3 billion to fund a variety of projects, including to reduce indoor toxics and air pollution, for the benefit of disadvantaged communities.
EPA is accepting applications for the Community Change Grants program through November 21, 2024.
