EPA Announces $300 Million in Funding for Tribal Nations and U.S. Territories to Reduce Climate Pollution

Date: 09/05/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On September 5, 2024, EPA announced that it awarded grants totaling $300 million to 33 Tribal nations and 1 U.S. territory through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program. The CPRG program is funded by IRA section 60114, which appropriated money for EPA to award grants to government entities for projects to reduce greenhouse gas pollution.

The CPRG program has been rolled out in two phases: planning grants and implementation grants. This round of grants to Tribes and territories are implementation grants, which will support the implementation of plans that are estimated to “cumulatively reduce greenhouse gas pollution by over 7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide by 2050.”
