EPA Announces $4.6 Billion Available in Phase Two of Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Competition

Date: 09/20/2023
Type: Implementation of IRA

On September 20, 2023, EPA announced the availability of $4.6 billion across two implementation grant competitions under the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program, created by IRA section 60114, for initiatives developed under the first phase of the program. One competition is general while the other is specifically for Tribes and territories. Eligible entities will compete for grants to fund community-driven initiatives and measures that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and provide economic and health benefits to frontline communities. When evaluating applications, EPA will prioritize measures that achieve the greatest amount of GHG emissions reductions.

For the general competition, EPA anticipates allocating 30-115 grants ranging from $2 million to $50 million. Applications for this competition are due April 1, 2024 and grants are estimated to be awarded in the Fall of 2024.

For the Tribes and territories competition, EPA anticipates allocating 25-100 grants between $1 million and $25 million each. Applications for this competition are due May 1, 2024 and grants are estimated to be awarded in Winter of 2024-2025.
