On February 15, 2023, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the release of initial guidance on the design of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, created by Section 60103 of the IRA. Two listings were published on the key parameters of grant competitions to leverage private capital to support clean energy and clean air investments. EPA will hold two competitions to distribute funding: the General and Low-Income Assistance Competition, and the Zero-Emissions Technology Fund Competition. These programs will be aligned with the Biden administration’s Justice40 Initiative. Applications for grant funding are expected to open in summer 2023.
