On October 21, 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a Request for Information on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund program established in section 60103 of the IRA. Through the program, EPA will provide financial and technical assistance to support projects that reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollution in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
In the Request for Information issued on October 21, EPA poses a series of questions related to the design and implementation of the program. For example, EPA seeks input on how it should define “low income” and “disadvantaged” communities for the purposes of the program, the types of financial and technical assistance it should provide through the program, the types of projects it should prioritize, and how it can use the program to support projects that create high quality jobs and adhere to best practices for labor standards (among other things).
EPA will accept comments through December 5, 2022.
