EPA Requests Comment on Low Emissions Electricity Program & GHG Corporate Reporting

Date: 11/04/2022
Type: Implementation of IRA

On November 4, 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a Request for Information on two programs established in the IRA. The first program, the Low Emissions Electricity Program, was established in section 60107 of the IRA and aims to support activities to encourage low emission electricity generation through education, technical assistance, and partnerships with consumers, low income and disadvantaged communities, industry, and state, local, and Tribal governments. In the Request for Information, EPA seeks input on how it should use the $87 million allocated to the program in the IRA.

The Request for Information also seeks input on theĀ Greenhouse Gas Corporate Reporting Program, which was established in section 60111 of the IRA. Section 60111 aims to enhance the standardization and transparency of corporate climate action commitments and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Request for Information sought input on how EPA should use the $5 million allocated to the program in the IRA.

Comments in response to the Request for Information were due January 18, 2023.
