FEMA Announces Plans to Fund Low-Carbon Materials

On March 28, 2023, FEMA announced that it will begin funding low-carbon materials with money awarded through the following FEMA grant programs: Public Assistance, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). FEMA is authorized to provide federal funding for natural disaster hazard mitigation under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. IRA section 70006 specifies that FEMA may use that authority to provide funding for costs associated with low-carbon materials.
