Date: 09/24/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On September 24, 2024, FEMA released three new guidance documents to assist communities in incorporating low-carbon and net-zero energy practices in FEMA-funded projects. IRA section 70006 authorizes FEMA to financially support low-carbon construction materials and incentivize low-carbon and net-zero energy in hazard mitigation projects. FEMA’s new resources provide information on the use of low-carbon materials and net-zero energy building practices to applicants of FEMA financial assistance.

The three new resources are: (1) Low-Carbon Materials and Net-Zero Energy: An Overview for Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Assistance; (2) Utilizing Low-Carbon Materials in FEMA Projects; and (3) Utilizing Net-Zero Energy in FEMA Projects.
