DOI Announces Funding for Salton Sea Drought Mitigation

On November 28, 2022, the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation (“Bureau”) announced that it would provide $22 million for drought mitigation research, management, and support at the Salton Sea. A portion of the funds will go toward staffing at the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian Tribe. The Bureau will provide an additional $228 million over four years to expedite related projects and bolster staffing at the Imperial Irrigation District and Coachella Valley Water District.
