GSA Announces $25 Million in Charging Ports to Aid Transition of Federal Fleet to All Electric

Date: 03/26/2024
Type: Implementation of IRA

On March 26, 2024, GSA announced $25 million for electrical vehicle (EV) charging ports at 33 federal buildings across the country. The IRA funds will support 32 projects across 21 states for a total of 782 ports. This investment furthers President Biden’s Federal Sustainability Plan, which requires federal agencies to transition the entire federal entire fleet to all electric by acquiring 100 percent light-duty zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) annually by 2027 and acquiring 100 percent medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs annually by 2035. Section 60504 of the IRA appropriates $975 million to the Federal Buildings Fund for emerging and sustainable technologies, as well as related sustainability and environmental programs.
