On November 26, 2024, GSA announced that it had awarded an Energy Savings Performance Contract to Constellation New Energy to make energy saving and conservation improvements to five federal facilities in the D.C. area: the Elijah Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse (D.C.), the William B. Bryant Annex (D.C.), the Orville Wright Federal Building (D.C.), the Wilbur Wright Federal Building (D.C.), and the Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building (College Park, Maryland). The contract is funded with $120 million from IRA section 60504, which appropriated funds to GSA to support the implementation of emerging and sustainable technologies in federal facilities. The projects will “modernize building systems, improve energy efficiency, cut greenhouse gas emissions and convert four of the buildings to operate exclusively on electric power in Washington DC.”
