GSA Awards Funding for Smart Building Technologies at 560 Federal Buildings

On June 20, 2024, GSA announced $80 million for smart building technologies for approximately 560 federal buildings across the U.S. The investments will help reduce emissions, increase efficiency and reduce costs, and enhance comfort in buildings in 49 states, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, DC. The IRA provides $3.4 billion for GSA to build, modernize and maintain greener facilities and section 60504 appropriates $975 million to the Federal Buildings Fund, 40 U.S.C. § 592, for emerging and sustainable technologies, as well as related sustainability and environmental programs.
