On August 14, 2024, the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) announced $200,000 to support long-term resilience in heat response efforts. The funding was made available through IRA section 40004, which funds research on ocean and atmospheric processes related to weather, coasts, oceans, and climate. This investment will go to up to 10 communities to develop manuals used to run simulated emergency drills as part of the Heat Tabletop Exercise Design Challenge. Applications are open through November 15, 2024.
