On September 3, 2024, NOAA announced that it awarded $100 million to General Dynamics Information Technology for “Rhea,” a new high-performance computer system. This increase in NOAA’s computing capacity will advance weather, climate, ocean, and ecosystem research.
NOAA’s award used funds allocated by the Inflation Reduction Act section 40005 and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
