NOAA Announces $15.3 Million in Funding to Improve Climate Projections of Extreme Weather

On October 8, 2024, NOAA announced that is is receiving $15.3 million to use, in collaboration with external partners, to provide climate projection products and equitable services to the public. The public and private sectors have sought access to reliable long-term extreme weather climate information, for example, to inform infrastructure decisions. NOAA will use this funding and its scientific expertise to ensure access to reliable information.

This funding is made available through IRA section 40004, which appropriated money for climate and weather research and forecasting projects.
