Type: Implementation of IRA
On June 27th, NOAA announced $16.7 million in funding for universities and research organizations to study issues related to marine technology innovation. This funding was made available through IRA section 40001. This investment will fund twelve projects researching biodiversity hotspots for megafauna, expanding algal bloom monitoring systems, and more. These awards are part of the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System’s Marine Life and Ocean Technology Transition programs.
