NOAA Announces $240 Million in Funding for Tribal Hatcheries

On July 25, 2024, NOAA announced a $240 million investment in tribal fish hatcheries for Pacific salmon and steelhead. These efforts work towards fulfilling federal obligations to protect treaty fishing rights. It will also protect subsistence and cultural activities for tribal communities in the Pacific Northwest.

This funding comes from IRA section 40001, which supports investment in coastal communities and climate resilience, including conservation and protection of fisheries.
