NOAA Announces $4.9 Million to Advance Drought monitoring and Prediction in U.S. West

On June 24th, NOAA announced $4.9 million for the agency’s research partners to improve drought monitoring and prediction in the American West. This investment will fund seven projects conducted by universities and research organizations to investigate moisture anomalies, improve monitoring of the West’s water budget, and more. $1.8 million of the funding was made available by IRA section 40001, while the remaining $3.1 million was made available by NOAA’s National Integrated Drought Information System Program.
