NOAA Announces $600,000 for Citizen Science at Fisheries

On August 5, 2024, the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) announced $600,000 for members of the public to conduct science that helps fisheries and fishing communities prepare for climate change. The funding is made available through IRA section 40004, which funds research on ocean and atmospheric processes related to weather, coasts, oceans, and climate. This investment is expected to fund three to eight projects. It will produce information that could help address data gaps in assessing the health of marine fish stocks and on how changing environmental conditions may impact fisheries and fishing communities.
