On November 20, 2024, NOAA announced that it has opened applications for a funding opportunity related to heat resilience through the Center for Heat Resilient Communities. Communities can apply to receive technical assistance and a $10,000 grant to develop a Heat Resilient Roadmap. The Roadmaps will “help [grantees] determine and communicate the impacts of extreme heat in their communities, assess their capacity to respond and design a locally tailored blueprint for heat resilience.” Up to ten communities will be selected for grants. Applications can be submitted here between now and January 24, 2025 at 4:00pm EST.
The grants are funded by IRA section 40001, which appropriated money to NOAA to award grants to communities for climate resilience projects.
