NOAA Announces Four Recommended Awardees to “Boost the Blue Economy”

On December 9, 2024, NOAA announced its recommendation that $54.3 million be awarded to four “business accelerators” through the Ocean-Based Climate Resilience Accelerators program. The four accelerators, StartBlue Ocean Enterprise Accelerator, gener8tor Great Lakes Innovation Accelerator, VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator, and The Continuum, would use the funds “to bring to market solutions that will benefit coastal resilience and a sustainable Blue Economy.” NOAA will remain involved with the accelerators’ plans as they launch in the coming months.

The program is funded by IRA section 40001, which appropriated funding to NOAA to support projects for coastal communities and climate resilience.
