NOAA Awards $71 Million Grant for Climate Adaptation in Monterey Bay Coastal Communities

NOAA has awarded a $71 million grant to the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation for climate adaptation in the coastal communities of the Monterey Bay region. The grant will support implementation of four adaptation strategies: (1) regional collaboration and capacity building; (2) flood risk reduction; (3) wildfire risk reduction; and (4) workforce development. This is a competitive grant through NOAA’s IRA-funded Climate Resilience Regional Challenge.

IRA section 40001 appropriates funds to support a range of climate resilience activities for coastal communities.
