NOAA has awarded a $74 million grant to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium to support communities on the front line of climate impacts in Alaska by expanding regional capacity for climate adaptation activities. NOAA describes, “The project will serve nearly 100 Alaska Native communities and focus on three major adaptation actions: 1) establishing a community climate risk assessment program; 2) expanding statewide tribal adaptation technical assistance; and 3) networking and knowledge sharing.” This is a competitive grant through NOAA’s IRA-funded Climate Resilience Regional Challenge.
IRA section 40001 appropriates funds to support a range of climate resilience activities for coastal communities.
